About two months ago, out of the blue, I received an email from them telling me that my 'site' looks great, and that I should look at registering with The Central Registry, this dodo did, and traffic through his site soared. This would have been all fine and dandy, except the page it refers to is The Internet Company of New Zealand's staff page, which I am listed on but do not maintain. Bizarrely, nobody else here received that message; just me. I went and had a look (because I had recently put up a website I wanted to promote), and nearly died when I saw they wanted US$400 to advertize my site. "F*** this," I thought. I did take the time (stupid me!) to fill in the thingy for their periodic 'contest'. I didn't get subscription bombed, but I did receive six emails in six weeks telling me that I had been chosen as the runner-up in that week's 'draw'. Finally, the noise coming from their general direction stops, after about six weeks of annoyance. And guess what's in my personal inbox at home last night? An email telling me that my site (http://servers.undernet.org/) looks great, I should consider registering it at the Central Registry, this dodo did and traffic through his site soared... The funniest part about the email I received from them last night is that the site they're congratulating me on is the site I submitted to their contest, over three months ago! I'd send you a copy of their message if I still had it, but I don't, I tend to delete cruft on site :) Anyway, have a good day :) -- J. S.
